There are glowworms living seclusively in the tea garden of Meijie. They are the “indigenous” of the mountain. In summer nights, they dance and glows in the garden, and that’s where the name of “The Glittering Tea Garden” comes from. Glowworms are demanding for the natural environment they are living in, which makes them the symbol of a perfect ecological system. It is rare to see wild glowworms in these days, thus we built a protection zone for them in Meijie in order to protect these little creatures. No pesticides and vehicles allowed in the tea garden and perimeter zone, as well as with access control of visitors, protection of water source and plants. We spare no efforts to maintain a sustainable living environment for glowworms. And during the period between mid-June to mid-July each year, there are also activities to popularize scientific knowledge regarding to glowworms and for appreciation of them.
